About Visitation Christian Counseling

In the 2012-2013 academic year, Elaine Kady had been enjoying a joyful and fulfilling thirteen-year teaching career in an all-girls’ catholic high school in Philadelphia, PA. She learned early on that there was an intense need for her inner-city students to have a trusted adult to talk to. They possessed a deep hunger for meaning, attention, guidance, comfort, and encouragement. She felt very blessed in her interactions with all the students who would come to her to talk after school hours or during weekend senior retreats. Elaine had often thought that if she hadn’t been a teacher, she would have loved to have been a counselor. She would soon have that opportunity.

Elaine was forced to go on medical leave in 2013 while battling a mysterious and debilitating illness. She worked part-time while seeing numerous doctors over several years and was finally diagnosed with Lyme Disease and successfully treated. During those nine years, Elaine noticed that perfect strangers would often open up to her about personal problems they were having; even her doctors did this!  More than one person from her past reached out to her to discuss a personal crisis. Elaine recognized both the call and the right moment and was eager to begin the journey to pastoral counseling.

In her search for a program, Elaine knew what she was looking for, but when she discovered the National Christian Counselors’ Association, she was surprised to learn that in addition to meeting her requirements, they also placed strong emphasis on the value of temperament assessment as a resource in counseling. This sold her immediately on the program, as discovering temperament theory changed her own life for the better years earlier.

Elaine became a certified pastoral counselor in 2022, and after further unforeseen turns in life, she is now happily settled in Southeastern Louisiana and runs Visitation Christian Counseling from her office in Covington. Elaine enjoys working with adults as well as teenagers. She prefers in-person counseling but does do virtual sessions on occasion or when circumstances necessitate. Elaine offers 50-minute sessions and she will do her best to accommodate your schedule.
